Private hire Vehicles, also commonly called as minicabs must be pre-booked through a Private Hire operator. Failure to book in advance may lead to the driver, the vehicle and the passengers being uninsured.
Private Hire Vehicles cannot be hailed or flagged down under any circumstances.

Private car type vehicles (including MPV's). Drivers aged 21 and over are acceptable as an additional driver on private hire insurance policies and on taxi insurance policies only provided that they and the policyholder meet all of the following criteria:

Policyholder:

• Must hold at least 3 years taxi NCB
• Cover must be Comprehensive
• Public Hire or Private Hire use

Additional Driver:

• Must have held a taxi badge for at least 2 years
• Must have held a full UK/EU Driving Licence for at least 3 Years
